Fall Classic Game 7 Draws 51M Viewers Across the US, Canadian and Japan Regions.

The exciting 11-inning clash where the Los Angeles Dodgers defeat the Blue Jays 5-4 attracted a aggregate over 50 million viewers across the US, Canadian, and Japan territories. MLB stated this marks the highest-rated Fall Classic Game 7 after the 1991 edition contest featuring the Twins and Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Breakdown

Last Saturday’s epic game drew 27.33 million audience members on Fox channels, its Spanish-language channel and their streaming platforms. Per Nielsen, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the previous week.

It also is the most-watched World Series game since the 2017 Game 7 between the Dodgers and Astros, which drew over 29 million. This marks a 16% increase compared to the previous finale between the Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19M.

In the Nielsen ratings, the sixth game placed 4th, Game 4 ranked seventh, Game 5 was 8th, and Game 3 landed in thirteenth position.

Global Viewership Numbers

In the Canadian market, the climactic game averaged over 11 million watchers on the Sportsnet network and the French TVA Sports. This made it the highest-rated English-language broadcast in Canada after the 2010 Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final game began at 9 PM in the local time zone, it averaged 12M. This came after the previous Friday’s sixth game – where Fall Classic Most Valuable Player Yamamoto gave up one run in six frames – averaged 13.1M viewers, making it the highest-rated World Series matchup on a single network in Japan.

Overall Totals and Patterns

The entire seven-match World Series recorded 15.71M audience members on Fox, a 2% rise from the previous year’s Dodgers versus Yankees series. This represents the initial instance after 2015 and ‘16 that the Fall Classic has seen viewership increases for two straight seasons.

Including the opening game broadcast on the Univision network, the complete American average reached 16.1M. The overall World Series average in Japan was 9.7M and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The complete playoffs on Fox and its sister channels drew 8.09 million viewers, an eight percent rise compared to last year and the network’s best playoff ratings since 2017.

MLB reported that the Fall Classic was broadcast in over 200 countries and territories by 44 media partners in sixteen different languages.
